"36c sister size" gets about 1,000 Google searches a month in the US and 110 in the UK (Google Ads data, September 2026).
Where the +4 method runs out
A 36 in underbust and a 39 in bust measure 36C. The +4 method pads the band to 40 in, one inch more than the bust, and prints "40 (below AA)" rather than a small cup. 34B on this site hits the same wall, from a smaller body.
Which sister to try
Band riding up: 34D is one band tighter with the same cups. Band digging in: 38B is one band looser. 32DD and 40A are two steps away on either side.
Reading it elsewhere
36C converts to EU 80C, France 95C, Australia 14C and roughly D80 in Japan, where cups run about a letter ahead of the EU column.
